Glendorn offers year-round activities for guests, but many prefer to visit in the winter when our scenic Northwest Pennsylvania resort turns into a winter wonderland. Below, explore just a selection of our most popular activities and attractions.
Cross Country Skiing
Our vast hiking trail system transforms into groomed cross-country skiing trails with terrain suited for all levels of skiers where you may ski on groomed trails or cut your own tracks through the woods. Along the way you’ll find rejuvenating warming cabins with wood-burning fireplaces, to take your skis off and take a moment to soak in the wilderness around you before continuing on your adventure.
We offer guests complimentary use of cross country ski equipment including skis, poles and boots. For beginners, we offer a short introductory lesson from one of our activities staff on safety and technique.
Within the nearby Allegheny National Forest there are hundreds of miles of ski trails for the cross-country skier along with The Allegheny State Park with its Art Roscoe Ski Center where skiers of all levels can find groomed Nordic and Skate ski trails.
Glendorn and its trail system make a great place to explore. You can use a complimentary pair of our snowshoes and hike to our favorite winter snowshoe destination, the Hideout, where our staff will set up a gourmet lunch and have a fire waiting for your arrival. From the Hideout, you may choose any one of our trails to meander your way back to your private cabin or suite.
Enjoy a winter day on one of our lakes with Glendorn’s ice fishing guides in the months of January or February. Once on the ice, Glendorn’s guides will show you how to set tip ups and jig for trout and various pan fish species. While you are catching fish, your guide will set-up a heated ice tent for you to take a break from the winter air and a nice place to enjoy your gourmet lunch and hot chocolate. That evening, enjoy a gourmet fish dinner prepared with what you caught that day!
Sleds are provided for your use to slide down one of our many smaller hills or you can brave the snow-covered road and steer your way down the Hideout Hill.
Combine downhill skiing and luxurious accommodations for a memorable skiing adventure. Ski HoliMont or Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, NY are approximately a 30-minute drive from the lodge.
Explore the property and experience the excitement of snowmobiling on a guided snowmobile tour. Our guides will provide you with a fun, safe and informative tour that is full of adventure and fun for all ages*. You will enjoy beginner –friendly groomed trail systems as well as large open meadows, and very scenic views!
