Pennsylvania FLY FISHING

Fly Fishing at Glendorn

On-Site Fly Fishing at Glendorn
The 1280 Acres of Glendorn is home to Fuller Brook, a crystal clear, spring influenced freestone stream.  Fuller Brook offers the fly fisher nearly three miles of privately managed trout angling ranging from Native Brook trout, on the Robbers Nest Branch and Jill Lake Branch to a mix of Browns, Rainbows and Brookies on the main stem.   Annual hatches and beginner friendly fishing offer the best of both worlds for experienced as well as novice fly fishers. Also at Glendorn are three trophy trout ponds with all the challenges of Stillwater angling (See Float Tubing Below). On premise fishing at Glendorn is all catch and release.

Float Tubing On Bondieu Lake
Q) What adds more pleasure to fly fishing than catching fish in streams?
A) Catching fish while floating weightlessly above the water in an Orvis Day tripper Float Tube on scenic Bondieu Lake, fly-fishing in your own self propelled, float tube with the aid of Glendorn's Orvis endorsed guides. Float tubes help position you in the best locations to hook, catch and release trout. Tubing gives you a satisfaction all its own. Warning; once you try float tubing you may be hooked for life.

Trout Fishing Expeditions Off Site
Daily our guides pack a gourmet shore lunch, load their fly boxes with flies and greet you with a smile and a hand shake at Fuller Brook Outfitters ready to lead you on a trout fishing journey on one of many streams in the Pennsylvania Wilds. "We love fly-fishing, that's why we can take you to fish any month of the year", says Damon Newpher Activities Director for Glendorn. We eat, sleep and live to fly-fish and want to share our knowledge with you. We hope we can pass on our enthusiasm in this sport and fill your days landing trout, steelhead or any other fish you’d care to catch.

Steelhead
Seasonal steelhead opportunities exist for the fly angler, October through April. Steelhead fishing is beginner friendly for casting, and the challenge is landing the average Steelhead, which can weigh between six to ten pounds. Quite often, lake-run brown trout and Coho salmon are caught mixed in with the steelhead. For many years fly fishing magazines have christened this fishery "Steelhead Alley".  Join us this fall and join the “Doubles Club”.

Scenic Drift Boat Trips
It is mesmerizing hearing the splashing of the waves on the side of one of our Clakacraft Drift Boats as we float on the Clarion and Allegheny Rivers, both of which are classified as National Scenic Rivers.  On your float you frequently see eagles, ducks, and sometimes the elusive black bear along with a wide array of other birds and wildlife. In the middle of all this scenery and great fly-fishing your guide will stop on a secluded river island to set up and cook a gourmet shore lunch. After your island lunch, we will float the remainder of either of these great American rivers searching for the fish of a life time.

We welcome you to Glendorn and the wealth of fly-fishing opportunities ranging in levels for all. Not only is there great trout and steelhead fishing we can accommodate the fly angler for Pike, Muskie, Bass and other great game fish too. I look forward to meeting you and if you have more questions or would like to schedule a fly-fishing journey please call me at 814-362-6511 or by email dnewpher@glendorn.com.

Best Fishes,
