Summertime boasts endless activities at our scenic resort in Northwest Pennsylvania. Work up a sweat in a friendly game of tennis, hike our more than 1,500 acres, play an impromptu game of shuffleboard, bocce or croquet or just relax by our oversized outdoor pool.
Glendorn and its 1,500 acres have a vast trail system that covers the entire grounds- winding its way up and down hills for the more adventurous hiker or biker. Or you can choose to take a more leisurely stroll or ride on one of the many trails through the valley floor.
The activities staff at Glendorn can prepare you for a day hike or ride on one of hundreds of miles of trails within the Allegheny National Forest, Allegany State Park or Ellicottville region.
The area offers leisure hikes and rides or challenging climbs and single tracks for mountain biking, road biking or trail running and climbing. We have a number of Trek mountain bikes and cruisers for on-property enjoyment. Some local bike dealers have rentals available for off-property use. Glendorn guests are also welcome to bring their own bike.
Go “off-roading” to experience the glory of Glendorn in a whole new light. Learn about the history of the land as well as the natural flora and fauna that is showcased on our 18 miles of trails. Tours last an hour and must be reserved in advance.
Tennis is a longstanding tradition at The Lodge at Glendorn. Our private courts are kept in tiptop shape, and the mountain air only add more joy and energy to an invigorating game. We offer a VersaCourt all-purpose athletic court to our guests for tennis, basketball and shuffleboard. The courts open each morning at sun up and can be played on until dark. All necessary equipment including tennis balls, racquets, basketballs, shuffleboard cues, discs and bottled water are available at the courts.
Kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, SUP’s and life jackets are available at Bondieu Lake. Hop in one of our Old Town canoes and paddle around the lake, keep an eye out for beaver, geese, blue herons and fish jumping.
Off-property canoeing, kayaking and whitewater adventure trips can be arranged with Glendorn preferred river outfitters; advanced reservations required.
The Lodge at Glendorn’s swimming pool is open seasonally from the end of May until September. It dates back to the 1920’s and was the first outdoor heated swimming in Pennsylvania. Mountain spring water is heated to an approximate temperature of 80º. Pool hours are 8:00a.m. until 7:00p.m. daily. No lifeguard is on duty and children under the age of sixteen (16) must be accompanied by an adult.
Croquet may be played on the croquet court and Bocce Ball may be played on The Big House lawn or at Bondieu Lake. Mallets, balls and rules are kept are the court. Bocce Ball sets are available on the sun porch and at the Bondieu Lake Boathouse.
Take a moment to relax with our private yoga session, our yoga instructor will customize your session based upon your needs and experience. Rates begin at $150 per hour for up to 8 guests; advance notice required.
Guests of Glendorn have a temporary membership to the Pennhills Club while staying at Glendorn. Pennhills was established in 1922 and the golf course was designed by Walter J. Travis, noted golf course designer during the golden age of golf in America. Pennhills is a fine example of unique Travis signatures: greens with challenging undulations, ingenious layouts that maximize the available landscape, and dramatically placed greens sites. The magnificent, castle-like club house features a dining room, bar, and locker rooms. Pennhills is located 20 minutes from Glendorn. Advance tee times are strongly recommended.
Pine Acres Country Club is also available for tee times. This beautiful golf course is situated atop the mountains of northwestern Pennsylvania, in the heart of the beautiful Allegheny National Forest. This 18-hole Championship Course with a 136 slope rating will test even the most experienced golfers. With their well-stocked Pro Shop and PGA Professional on staff, along with their full service restaurant and lounge, you will find your visit to Pine Acres Country Club to be an enjoyable and memorable experience. Pine Acres is also located 20 minutes from Glendorn. Advance tee times are strongly recommended.
Par Puzzles, board games and books can be found in the Pine Sitting Room in the Big House and The Playhouse Conference Center. There are over 40 wood-burning fireplaces on property to keep you cozy while you enjoy the ‘great indoors’. Billiard tables are also available. Direct TV and movies are available for viewing in your accommodation, The Big House Billiards Room or Playhouse Conference Center. A digital projector with surround sound, a large screen television with surround sound, a Blu-Ray player, a DVD player and video games are available at the Playhouse Conference Center.
