WINTER ACTIVITIES

Cross Country Skiing
When entering through the front gates of Glendorn, it's like driving into a snow globe full of winter fun. The vast hiking trail system transforms into groomed cross-country ski trails with terrain suited for all levels of skiers where you may ski on groomed trails or cut your own tracks through the woods. Along the way you'll find three rejuvenating warming cabins, with wood burning fireplaces, to take your skis off and take a moment to soak in the wilderness around you before continuing on your adventure. For the beginner we have skis, poles and boots for your complimentary use along with a short introductory lesson from one of our activities staff on safety and technique, you are then on your way kicking and gliding along one of our wooded trails.

Within the nearby Allegheny National Forest there are hundreds of miles of ski trails for the cross country skier along with The Allegheny State Park with its Art Roscoe Ski Center where skiers of all levels can find groomed Nordic and Skate ski trails.

Snow Shoeing
Glendorn and its trail system make a great place to explore. You can use a complimentary pair of our Snow Shoes or bring your own and venture out on one of our groomed Snow Shoe trails or make your own tracks through the woods stopping by one of our three warming huts. A favorite winter Snow Shoe destination is the Hideout, where our staff will set up a gourmet lunch and have a fire waiting for your arrival. Upon departure, from the Hideout, you may choose any one of our trails to meander your way back to your cabin or suite.

Ice Fishing
Enjoy a winter day on one of many lakes with Glendorns ice fishing guides in the months of January, February or March. Once on the ice Glendorn guides will show you how to set tip ups and jig for walleye, pike and various pan fish species including yellow perch. While you are catching fish your ice guide will set up a heated ice tent for you to take a break from the winter air and a nice place to enjoy your gourmet lunch and hot chocolate prepared on the ice for you. That evening enjoy a gourmet dinner prepared from the fish you caught that day!

Sledding
Sleds are provided for your use to slide down one of our many smaller hills or you can brave the snow-covered road and steer your way down the Hideout Hill. Guests can also go snow tubing at one of the snow tubing company hills within close proximity of Glendorn.

Down Hill Skiing
A 30-minute drive North to Ellicottville, NY for skiing at Holiday Valley. 55 slopes, 33 open for night skiing. Rated in the top 5 of the East.
