GLENDORN WINS DISTINCTION AS ORVIS FLY-FISHING LODGE OF THE YEAR

April 13, 2016

BRADFORD, PA, April 13, 2016: Last Friday night, The Lodge at Glendorn was named ‘Fly-fishing lodge of the year’ by The Orvis Company, as part of their 2016 Endorsed Lodges, Outfitters and Guide Awards. The Lodge at Glendorn is the first among any of the Orvis-endorsed lodges in the northeast and mid-Atlantic states to win this distinction; and further, is the first U.S. property east of the Mississippi to be awarded since 2007.

“We are delighted to be selected as the fly-fishing lodge of the year, and are especially proud because the award selection is heavily weighted on guest evaluations,” said Cliff Forrest, owner of The Lodge at Glendorn, part of the Orvis-endorsed network of lodges. “It is an honor to be recognized by such a world leader in the outdoor and fly-fishing industry, and it’s validation that the Glendorn experience is truly an award-winning one.”

For the past 30 years, The Orvis Company has been recognizing excellence in sporting experiences through its Endorsed Lodges, Outfitters and Guides program. This year’s winners were announced on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the annual Orvis Guide Rendezvous in Missoula, Montana.

“What a thrill to win this award for ‘Fly-Fishing Lodge of the Year’,” said Damon Newpher, activities director at The Lodge at Glendorn. “As a certified, licensed and endorsed Orvis guide, working alongside our other Orvis-certified guide—Shane Appleby—we take great pride in the exceptional quality of the fly-fishing expeditions that we offer at The Lodge. We are grateful to receive this distinction from the standard-setting company in the industry.”

The Lodge at Glendorn is home to Pennsylvania’s finest fly-fishing, boasting numerous amenities, such as offsite fishing expeditions, drift and jet boat trips and the only licensed full-service outfitter permitted in the Allegheny National Forest. Home to the Fuller Brook, a crystal clear, spring-influenced freestone stream, the Glendorn offers fly fishers over three miles of privately managed trout angling ranging from Native Brook trout to a mix of Browns, Rainbows and Brookies. There is also a full service fly-shop on the property, Fuller Brook Outfitters, stocked with flies, leaders, tippet, roads and other accessories needed to make your day out on the water that much more memorable.

As a member of the Relais & Châteaux collection, The Lodge at Glendorn is not only rich with wildlife and natural beauty, but award-winning culinary experiences. Enjoy fine dining, outdoor picnics, cooking classes, guest chefs, or have Executive Chef Joe Schafer cook up catch-of-the-day for a fresh stream-to-table experience.
